Overview

Warehouse and operations staff were tracking stock across a mix of spreadsheets and a legacy system that couldn't keep up with the business — counts drifted out of sync, reorder decisions lagged, and every discrepancy meant a manual reconciliation. Leadership wanted a single, reliable inventory platform, but with a small in-house team and no dedicated researcher, discovery and delivery had to happen in the same breath.

I stepped into both the UX design and Scrum Master roles: running discovery alongside sprint ceremonies, translating what we learned from warehouse staff directly into groomed, estimated backlog items, and keeping the team's two-week cadence honest so design and delivery never drifted apart.

My approach

01
01

Discovery

Shadowing warehouse staff and interviewing operations leads to see exactly where stock counts broke down in practice.

02
02

Sprint planning

Breaking discovery findings into small, testable increments the team could ship and validate every two weeks.

03
03

Backlog grooming

Prioritising by user pain and business value together, so design and delivery never pulled in different directions.

Stakeholder alignment

Running demos and retros that kept leadership, ops and engineering honest about progress and trade-offs.
